Classroom Rules & Expectations

Classroom rules and expectations are meant to create reasonable standards for classroom interactions and to ensure the classroom remains a positive and productive environment for learning. The rules and expectations are all rather straightforward and simple to follow. If you have any questions, please do ask me.

Rules & Expectations

1. Make your best effort

Always put forth your best effort. Avoid doing just enough to get by. Push yourself -- the most impactful learning occurs when we are challenged and challenge ourselves.

2. Be respectful

Classroom learning is a cooperative process. Respecting ourselves and others is fundamental to ensuring the classroom is a positive environment. Respect others in terms of the words you choose to say and the behaviors you engage in. Respect other people's property.

3. Come prepared and on time

Make sure you come to class with all the necessary supplies to participate. This includes relevant school supplies, handouts and worksheets.

You are also expected to arrive to class on time and be seated and ready by the time the bell rings. If a warmer activity is specified on the board, you should be engaged in it by the time the class begins.

4. Follow directions & pay attention

Do your best to follow instructions and ask questions when anything is unclear to you. Similarly, focus on the lesson and avoid behaviors that are distracting or off-task.

Cell phones are not permitted during class unless specified otherwise for a specific purpose. Generally, cell phones need to be turned off throughout the class. If a cell phone is used during class, it will be taken away.

6. Be honest

Do your own work and use your own words. Cheating and copying are serious academic offenses and can carry heavy consequences. They also undermine your ability to learn, which could cause difficulties for you in future classes.
